Cold Process soaping temperature is a personal preference, and will vary slightly depending on the recipe. While most soapers prefer to soap between (120-130 ° F) there are times when you will want to soap higher or lower:

| You want to prevent gel phase | You want to promote gel phase |
| You are making soap with alternative liquids (milk, juice, tea, etc) instead of water | You want to prevent soda ash |
| You want to prevent glycerin rivers | To help soap saponify quicker |
| When working with a fragrance oil that heats up or speeds up trace | You are working with beeswax in your soap batter |
| Your room temperature is hot |
